The color of writing.

Which ink color do you prefer?

I love black.
Then green,
then red.
Then Purple, then orange.

I keep a pen with red in it with me at all times so I can correct papers and such.

I prefer orange, light blue and purple. Specifically I keep orange indien, blue pervenche, rose cyclamen, and pr tanzanite in several pens.

Blue. Definitely blue. I love the idea of colored inks…sort of like I enjoy some statements of modern fashion…but know that my statement is khakis and a cardigan. For me, blue is solid, grounding, freeing. I can count on it and let the fancy/whimsy/creation be in what it creates.

Purple, blue, deep black are my main colors. They are comfortable, no-nonsense colors that mean business and serious thought. And for whimsy I have turquoise and chocolate, softer colors that can say anything.

Brown is the new black, seriously. I love my chocolate ink, it looks rustic and traditional and is especially nice on creamy paper. Otherwise I’m all for turquoise and purple for brightening up boring meeting notes!

I will write in anything dark as long as it is not you basic black or blue. I stopped writing in red for a while after being scolded by a professor that making corrections to papers is red was no longer traditional but frowned upon. So although I love glitter pens, purple and green are easiest to find next to black and blue.

Pelikan Royal Blue has been my go-to color since my international education experience in 1989 and 1990. Though, I do dabble with Havana Brown because it is a beautiful color and a lovely Tulipe Noire for grading papers….

Red stains my pens and I do not use it anymore. Black is unfortunately boring to me. C’est la Vie!

i love browns, and blues, but the one i love the most is Waterman South Sea Blue. :) it’s just perfect on my moleskines!

Personally, Herbin Bleu Pervenche and Lie de The are the colours that are my favourites. They perform very well on Rhodia and Clairfontaine papers. I use them at work too on generic paper. My colleagues always know that I’ve left them a note when they see these ink colours.
I’m not sure why I like them, just easy on the eye I suppose.

This site is pretty cool I think partly because of the talk about fountain pens and I’m not sure I’ve seen that elsewhere.
Actually I do not own a fountain pen and Iwas getting interested just reading these entries.

Perle Noire! (J. Herbin’s black) is my favorite color, then blues (Waterman’s Florida blue, bleu nuit or Eclat de Saphir). Purple’s comes next…. but I definetly like blacks for my journals … that color seems to give the writing an aura of old manuscript… and I love that about black inks; specially on ivory paper. Also is standard office ink for legal use. If I’m going to write something at the office on a meeting, I think it does not look very serious if I start writing in green or purple. Don’t get me wrong, I use those colors… but just for fun at home. :)
