» BLANK PAD, OUR WEEKLY FORUM POST

Welcome to Blank Pad,  a forum to discuss topics about our latest products, your comments and themes related to our obsessions – pen, paper and such.  This Friday, we’d like to know:

Which pads do you prefer – plain or grid? Some like the freedom of plain paper, others prefer the structure and guidance of grids. Which one are you?

Definitely squared! My writing starts sloping downhill if there’s no guidance.

Grid grid Grid!
because I can flip it on it’s side if I feel like writing longer lines. Also, I like squaring off certain things.

Plain. Leaves more freedom and space to create.

Hm, depends! Grid for meetings and notes (I tend to doodle boxes–a readily enhanced practice when done on grid!) and plain for journals…as noted, more space for thinking.

Definitely plain. Grid lines get in my way and I have this weird phobia about crossing all those lines…

It really depends. At work gridded is best it keeps my notes organized and neat. For doodling or quick GTD plain works well. For my assignments and projects at work lined or gridded is optimal. So, again it depends on the task.

I much prefer plain paper, it makes my words the unchallenged stars of the page.

What happened to lined? That’s my favorite–it keeps me balanced and gives me structure, but it loose enough to let me flow wherever I want to go. It’s blank space with grid military precision. The grid is a little to demanding of my loyalty; the blank is too unfocused, my words tend to s

Lined lets me be me. :)

Grid all the way. I like to be able to doodle as I take notes, brainstorm, etc and gridded paper is the way I roll.

Depends

Letters – ruled
Everything else – squared

Of the two available choices, I need the lines in the squared paper to keep my handwriting in check! :-)

Plain or grid– I think I like the option of going in either direction. Lined just always seems too limiting!

For years I wrote on lined paper, for some reason I never felt comfortable on plain paper, probably because I write more than I draw and needed the lines to keep my writing straight. Recently I have discovered the joy of gridded paper and wonder how I ever managed without it. The only thing I use plain for now is art, and I don’t do much of that these days.

Squared for almost everything but sketching and drawing. I do, however, use lined notebooks for my university work.
