Welcome to Blank Pad,  a forum to discuss topics about our latest products, your comments and themes related to our obsessions – pen, paper and such.  Today, we’d like to know:

What is your favorite writing instrument?  Pencil, fountain pen, mechanical pencil, sharpie, Pilot G2…?
Do you carry it around with you or leave it at home?

Actually…I find myself reaching for the Pelikan Pelikano Jr., my Pelikan Script, or my Pilot Penmanship most of the time. I’m waiting on a Sailor Desk Pen, which should be interesting…

I carry a pen roll with 5 fountain pens. I also carry a Faber Castell E-motion cow motif ballpoint and a Parker 45 ballpoint for those times when a fountain pen just won’t work.

The fountain pens I keep inked are about five pens, four are different Pelikans from the green 1935 I love to a black M800. Also one VP inked with a Pilot Irosuzuki red color. In my bag I carry a Sensa ballpoint and .7mm pencil. None of my pens are designated as stay at home pens. If I like it and want to use it, I will take it with me. What’s the point having wonderful writing instruments if they are just kept for a sheltered life.

Four Rotring Surf fountain pens with J. Herbin Poussiere de Lune and Perle Noir in two and Noodler’s Legal Blue in the other two. I like switching between inks as my mood chaqnges

The Rhodia story book with blank frames helps with organizing my thoughts. I also just like to look through my fountain pens and feel energized by their beauty.

Pelikano Jr. is great for a left like me. It is a super pen for each day of the week.

I just ordered my first fountain pen. I can’t afford anything too expensive. I got a Lamy med point, the clear one where you can see inside of it. I don’t remember what it’s called. Any thoughts would be helpful. Right now I’m just going to buy the ink cartridges instead of geting a converter. Maybe it will come instructions about how to care for it.

i am a pen minimalist! i like pilot EasyTouch ball points (fine), or muji gel-points in 0.38 mm. both are cheap so that i can lose them at my job without stressing over it too much! because i will.

If I take the time to set up my writing scene, I’ll go with a pen that suits–fountain favorite is an old blue Rotring–can’t remember the style name.

Otherwise, my constant companion is a Pilot RexGrip .5 ballpoint. Durable, fine enough point, reliable, ready in a tick.

I love writing instruments, but bottom line, want to be able to write with them without having to be too too careful because while what I use is certainly important to me, what I have to say is even more so.
