» Buy in Bulk?

black_group

In the last week we have received emails from two people asking us if they could buy writing pads in bulk.  Here’s a quote from one of them:

“Hello. I am employed as a judicial law clerk in the federal judiciary.  As such, I spend my day researching the law while writing and typing notes. I use fountain pens for all of my research notes. The paper provided by my employer is not well suited to this purpose.  I have, therefore, decided to contact your firm for suggestions…Presently I am using approximately 50 – 60 pages of 8.5 x 11 paper a week. I am looking for pads  similar in size with excellent paper.”

Of course, we would be happy to suggest Rhodia or Clairefontaine!

These emails are not isolated inquiries–we seem to be getting more of them, largely from people who cannot buy Rhodia in an area store and want to stock up.

Here’s my question: would you take the opportunity to buy Rhodia pads in bulk? If so, how many would you order?

I would like to gather information from Rhodia customers before we approach some retailers around the country to see if they would be willing to implement bulk purchases with a break on price and/or shipping charges.

Thank you for any ideas and suggetions you can give us.

I go through about 5-6 Rhodia pads per month, in different sizes. A couple of No. 18s, a No. 8, and at least one No. 17.

I wouldn’t mind being able to buy a year’s worth or more of each kind in bulk, if the price was right.

Depending on what bulk would be (20? 30?)I would buy your sister notebook Clairefontaines in bulk. Love them and use them heavily. (love Rhodia too but need the wirebound Clairefontaines). Thanks!

Absolutely! 5 packs or 10 packs would be so much easier.

I go thru about 5 Habanas/Webnotebooks a year minimum.

Staple bound Clairefontaine notebooks in the medium size are easiest for my manuscripts since I can fold them back on themselves with a bullnose clip when it comes time to transcribe. I’d grab those in the 10 packs.

Clothbound Clairefontaines are my 2nd choice when I’m writing. 5 packs of those in the medium size would be my fantasy.

Last, but not least, the Basics Journals go at the rate of 2 a month, minimum. 5 packs in those

Nah, I’m not a heavy user…much! And waiting for sales on my favorites or having to substitute one for the other due to availability/affordability issues drive me NUTS!

I’d use even more Habanas if bulk buys brought the price points down.

In short, this is an enthusiastic YES!!

I would, or I know some people who would. Probably 10 or 20 at a time.

Bulk, Yes In a month on average average I go through about 5 8.25″ X 11.75″ graph (I do about 2 books worth of roughs on cheap staples graph papers to cut cost) and about the same in the 6×8 graphs.

I would buy 2 or three months out if I could. I may even venture into buying my daily lines writing papers if I could get them in bulk, heck I wouldn’t even need a cover..

I don’t use as many as others who’ve posted, but I’d like to buy in bulk nonetheless in order to save on shipping. 10 at a time, probably. I’m doing holiday shopping now, in fact, and wishing I had more Rhodias to give as gifts, so the ability to buy in bulk at this time of year would be especially welcome.

I would absolutely buy in bulk. I use the 19300 and 19340 which are the wirebound (on left side) large notebooks with graph paper, and I ALWAYS have to hunt them down. Would buy 20 – 40.

THanks!

Every January I buy between 3-4 dozen of various sizes to use thru out thea year. Would love a bulk discount!

I’d buy five at a time, no problem.

In a word: yes

For me, pocket Webbies, absolutely. I’d buy a case of 10 or 12 in orange without thinking about it. That’s only a six month supply at my current output so maybe I’d go for a 20-24 unit base purchase.

Just ordered a bundle of 5 at Jetpens: good price, with free shipping.
As these never hit the B & M shelves around here a bundle is a great merchandising move.

On some of the pads, maybe with free shipping it’s not a bad price but I don’t call what they’ve got in the way of “bundles” much of a bargain. IN fact, they might have a few typos on their Rhodia page. Webbies are $24 each and a bundle of 2 for $29. That’s a Ripoff with a capital R.

I would definitely buy in bulk. You can never have too much Rhodia paper. I did buy a case of Clairefontaine notebooks I couldn’t get in the US. I am running low. I either have to try and order more or go back to Paris.
