Orange Colored Sky

I tried to keep this one serious- I really did. Poking around for ideas on how to sentimentally discuss the above image, I find the video below. It’s Wonder Woman’s Lynda Carter singing a song called “Orange Colored Sky” with…. The Muppets. Continue Readering »

User Review: Biffybeans on J. Herbin Orange Indien

I used to be the kind of person that preferred writing with traditional colors such as blue and black. Once I started writing with a fountain pen, I found that I enjoyed trying colors that were well outside my realm of what I thought was “normal.” J. Herbin inks come in some fascinating colors, including this Orange Indien, which is not necessarily a bright Halloween type of orange but more of a reserved rust color.

I like using this ink for both writing and drawing and in this case, it was used in a medium nibbed Lamy Safari fountain pen.
Visit my blog Spiritual Evolution of the Bean for my original review of this ink.
Rhodia Scoot
Leah Hoffman from the Quo Vadis Blog sent me this picture of this absolutely adorable Rhodia colored scooter that lives in her neighborhood. I’ve never ridden a scooter or a motorcycle but have always wanted to. I can see myself riding one like this through the Italian countryside to the local market where I would pick up some fresh bread, wine, and cheese for a casual dinner with friends. To me, it just seems to strike an emotional chord of freedom – one of “I’m going where I want, I’ll get there when I get there, and things will be joyous when I arrive because I drive an orange moto scoot!”
Where does Rhodia take you?

Big plans for this fall weekend?
I’m a little surprised at how quickly the weather has turned chilly here in the Northeast. It takes me back about fifteen years ago when I went on a hayride and then afterward to a party at a friend’s house. I was wearing Birketstock sandals without socks and my feet were FREEZING! My friend had a large outdoor cooking pit and I can remember roasting hot dogs on an open fire, then covering them with homemade salsa – that was the first time I had ever eaten salsa on a hot dog- (I was always a mustard on a dog rather than ketchup kind of person) and it was really good. While I haven’t eaten a regular hot dog in over three years, there is something that still gnaws at my gut when I smell a mixture of burning leaves and grilled hot dogs… It just always reminds me of fall.

Completely awed by these stream of consciousness notes that I found on Flickr, I asked Joel /chico guevara to explain his process and this was his response:
