New developments on the Habana front! The small 4×6 3/8″ Habana (which I’ve always referred to as the “Baby” Habana) is new & improved. There is now a blank version available with the 90g Clairefontaine paper – the same paper found in the large version. For the doodlers among us, Wheeee!
Due to the addition of the thicker paper, the number of pages (in the small blank version) has been reduced from 96 to 80, but to me, this is a fair swap. Exaclair had been receiving feedback that the 64g wasn’t fountain pen friendly enough, and so Voila! They changed it, and yet the book size stays the same. The new 6×9″ blank version will maintain the same number of pages (80) as the lined version. There is also the addition of a ribbon book mark.
The blank version will be available in two new colors- Green (think lime) and Raspberry, and will also be available in Black and Red.

The 90g upgrade is something a lot of people will like, for sure! Do you know if/when the small lined will convert to 90g as well?
It could happen…..
Really appreciate the regularly updated content Stephanie. One question: do these books lie flat or are the bindings tight like the Rhodia webbies?
Thanks Henry! First thing – the new version of the Rhodia Webbies lie flatter than their predecessors, and the Habanas do open/lie quite flat.
Now I have to decide on which blank book: Rhodia’s or Quo Vadis’. Hmmmm. I think only Goulet has both so I could buy either (or both) there. Now for colors. I like the black as one choice; maybe the Webbie, and then maybe the Habana in a color. Decisions, decisions. I know the paper color in the Webbie is off white; what about the Habana? Looks like it’s the stark white.
Habana is bright white. Webbie is off-white. Both are 90g Habana covers are semi-flexible if that makes a difference. The Raspberry Habana is pretty! Black Webbies are very popular.
I do have both! I have all of both, in every color (except a select few that are backordered). There’s really not a HUGE difference between the two journals in the small versions, except the cover colors and page color (white in Habana, ivory in Webbie). Both are great, comparably priced, and it’s hard to go wrong with either.
Looks like it would make a fine pocket sketchbook alternative to the small Moleskine with the added advantages of having the superior performance of the 90g Clairefontaine paper, slightly larger working area, and 4 color options for the covers.
