» Basic Colors
The Staplebound Clairefontaine Basics journals come in 4 colors. I am partial to the red. Which of these colors do you like the best? Is there a different color you would like to see? (I want purple!) Is the color of the cover important to you at all?

Colour is important, you bet. I’d go for green this time.
I’m partial to the red, then the mustard color, because it would be a quick find amongst things I have. I would love to see a cerulean color, tangerine, or even a bright marigold yellow. What about jeweltones like amethyst, emerald, or a deep garnet shade?
Colors are perfect for single-purpose notebooks. Keep one for writing ideas, one for shopping lists, etc. and keep them by the keys with a pen clipped on.
On the way out the door, grab the one you need! I keep a bunch of spiral-bound books to manage work projects, and use old color-coded labels from floppy disks to keep them distinguished from one another.
Color of the cover is very important to me. I think I have all of the colors above except black, and the red is my favorite as well.
I generally prefer muted colors (brown, black, tan, etc) for my journals and notebooks. Of the colors shown here, only the red one seems too “bright” for me. Having said that, a handful of identical notebooks with different colored covers can be useful due to being able to color-code their purposes.
Bottom line, as long as it’s a solid color and not a print or pattern of some kind, I’m good with it.
But a nice navy blue one would be cool. ^_^
I like the red best, and I’d love to see deep purple, rich blue, hot pink, and perhaps a deep goldenrod.
I do not really use journals, but the texture and embossing of their covers looks quite nice. The light brown seems like something like Dr. Jones (from “The Last Crusade”) might use. Of course cover color is important, how else could one tell sketchbooks apart when a collection grows up to almost unmanageable size? Lately I’ve been picking more covers with green or red hues so I could tell them apart from my older batch of almost exclusively black sketchbooks. So long as they are not too girlie or marred with floral patterns, I’ve been known to use almost every sketchbook I ever came across.
I can’t decide whether I like the red or the black best. I’d like to see purple, too! A dark blue would also be nice, I think.
I think all of these colours are beautiful, but I like the brown and the green best. I wouldn’t mind seeing orange and grey as well.
Although the colour of the cover will probably not be the deciding factor as to whether or not I buy a notebook, it may affect how well I enjoy using the notebook. If I dislike the cover colour, I will be reminded of it every time I use the notebook and may then use the notebook less. If it is a colour I like, I will appreciate it every time I see the notebook and will probably use it more.
I like the green personally. The color of the cover is somewhat important to me, for the most part as long as it is professional looking and sturdy I’m happy.
Color is very important because it attracts. Sapphire blue or emerald green. Jewel tones.
I like the green cover the best. All of you who prefer the red let me know and I’ll trade you my red for your green.
I’m happy with the two and won’t mind using the red for different topics than green.
Purple, blue, and a green that doesn’t look like military surplus would be nice. The green is OK, but that color reminds far too many of us of uniforms and tents and Humvees and…you get the idea.
Personally, color isn’t that important, but only because I put them in a Quo Vadis leather cover.
I agree, colour is very important for classifying your notebooks. I am not fond of the red though and like many others would like a version in purple, blue, as well as lime green and why not, that lovely Rhodia orange.
