“I have spreadsheets online and paper lists and lists of lists. Oh my.” Donna’s comment [above] resonates with me. It seems no matter how much I try to consolidate these lists into one thing, notebook, etc, inevitably, I end up not being able to accomplish this. Any thoughts or insights about one capture method/tool encouraged and appreciated.

Being that I live in the USA I feel like I live in an 8.5×11 world. Hence, I use a lot of yellow Ampads and the like. Also, I find the 3.5×5.5 format [e.g., Field Notes] a terrific size for lists monitoring health and fitness, gardening/pruning dates, writing prayers, photograph tips and techniques, jotting down thoughts and doodling, books to-be-read, home chores, etc. Lastly, I continue to try to use mid-sized journals, but more often than not find them too large and too small which drives me crazy. Recently, I’ve begun using a Rhodia top-wire-bound 6×8 notebook for developing recipes and the mid-size seems a good format for this use. As I always choose squared/quadrille paper over lined or plain I’m tempted to use the Rhodia Dots pad.

I have spreadsheets online and paper lists and lists of lists. Oh my.
music i want to choreograph
music i want to acquire
books i want, and then either print or eBook
intriguing topics
articles i want to write
research i need to do
words we no longer use
beautiful words
concerts i’ve attended
several fav music lists, eg jazz guitar, flamenco, funk
my fountain pen collection
my fountain pen inks
questions for my oncologist
lists of my treatment, drugs, BP, blah blah
thank you’s to write
This is reminding me i need to start another list.

I keep journals of favorite quotes, books read (by year), and an idea book where I will list ideas (big and small), funny word concoctions, story ideas, inventions (I am not an inventor, but I think I could be if I wanted to), names (Kinda Brown), interesting sites (underground warehouses in Quincy, IL), mis-heard quotes (in defense of senility). You get the idea. I started this in 2006 and so far I have written 128 entries.

I carry around a small notebook in my pcoket in which I mark down different types of lists, from college homework to what people might like for Christmas (that way I don’t forget throughout the year)… ^_^

I keep lists of favorite songs at the moment, homework for the weekend, exciting things that happened this month, bizarre things I come across, colleges I’m interested in applying to, favorite TV shows, authors, favorite artists, and my top five pens at the moment. I know there’s a lot more I keep lists of, but I can’t think of the rest at the moment.

As a writer I find myself keeping lists of all manner of wierd and wonderful things that I never used to: interesting names, facts, places, plot ideas, you name it, I probably keep a list of it.
