New Year’s Resolutions – Yes or No?
In lieu of making resolutions, I create a manifestation list. I boldly state to the universe what I am to achieve in the upcoming year. This works for me as long as I place things on the list that are remotely attainable. As in, “Visit 10 states” is do-able but “Visit Mars” eh, not so much. Continue Readering »
Beverly now has time to write.
In a recent post asking about your Favorite Places to Write, we received this wonderful response from Beverly:
“When I was young, a mom, housekeeper, etc., I used to steal minutes to write anywhere I could to write. Now I have the great luxury of choosing where, when and how long to sit and think. As I told my Rhodia journal a few weeks ago, “I used to dream of this when the baby spilled her milk while the three-year-old needed his shoe tied and his elbow scrape cleaned and bandaged while the phone rang. Pocket & Ribbon in the Planner?
Are you a fan of the Rhodia Planners? We recently received a comment from someone requesting that we add a pocket and a ribbon bookmark. Is this something you would like to see in future versions? Knowing that the addition of such features could affect the price, would the these features make you more or less apt to purchase one?
Happy Holidays!
Paper, Pens, Paper & Pencils: Do they make you happy?
I think my husband is starting to secretly despise me. Piles of journals & sketchbooks everywhere… little zip bags filled with pencils, pens, markers… He recently asked me exactly how many pens I needed. Can you just imagine the look on my face as I answered, “Um, all of them!?!” Taking great offense to the question, I dumped them all out, then proceeded to tell him what each of them was for; brush pens, white gel pens, fountain pens with different inks, drawing pens, colored pencils. I justified the need for each one as a surgeon might defend the need for a scalpel on his way to brain surgery.
I don’t think he will ever understand. To quote Bill the Cat, “Pfffffffffffffffffft.” But that’s ok because I know you all do.
Have you tried a dotPad yet?
The Rhodia dotPad.
80g white Rhodia paper with a pale violet dots in lieu of lines or graph. Soon there will be a dotWebbie (Webnotebook) available with the 90g off-white paper and pale gray dots. If haven’t yet tried a dotPad, here are a few reviews to help guide your decision: Continue Readering »
How Frank Found Rhodia
On a recent blog post, I asked people how they initially became aware of Rhodia products. Frank Bettendorf wrote to tell us of his first experience with the little orange pad:
“I came upon Rhodia when I was searching for a good resource for my sketching. I’d tried other brands but found their paper wanting especially for pen and ink drawing where I did several layers of cross-hatching. Continue Readering »
Holiday Greetings – How do you send them?
At this festive time of year, I am wondering how people are choosing to send their holiday greetings to friends and family. Do you still send cards through the mail? Family newsletters printed on the home computer? Photo greeting cards? Handwritten letters? Hand crafted cards? I like to use cards I’ve either made myself or that showcase the art of other artists. I don’t maintain a specific holiday “distribution list” as I have in the past, but I do my best to in some way reach out to those that mean the most to me during the holidays.

Guest Blogger: Bleubug discusses Marks on Paper
Our latest Guest Blogger is Thomas from the delightfully eccentric bleubug blog.
“I’m certainly a person who enjoys writing instruments both vintage and modern. Throw a few inks (or a few hundred) into the equation I’m happy as a clam or maybe an inky squid. But there are marks on paper beyond those made by fluid and pen which while archaic or unnoticed I do enjoy, so let me make mention of them. Continue Readering »

Year at a Glance
I’m not much of a daily planner kind of person- more of a “month at a glance” kind and I’ve recently fallen in love with my new Quo Vadis Monthly 4 that Karen sent me. (I fully reviewed it here.) One small feature I especially love, are the year at a glance pages. I find something so thrilling about looking back over a completed year. Blocks of time spent here or there, doing this or that- it’s a great visual reminder for me to remember the important bits.
Are you a paper planner person? Which kind do you prefer- daily, monthly, hourly? Do you use more than one? I know that Laurie does!

Quiver Leather Pen Holders for Webbie and Habana
I recently reviewed these leather pen holders from Quiver and found that the two pen models work quite nicely with the Rhodia Webbies and small Quo Vadis Habanas. (Julie reviewed both the 1 and 2 pen models here.)
Since writing the review, Bob Koch at Quiver Global noticed a great deal of interest in the Quiver products from Webbie users and gave me a coupon code to extend to our fans. For a 5% discount off of your order from now until December 12th, enter the code “rhodia2010″ into the promo code box during checkout.
Thanks Bob!
Creating New Traditions
I tend to be somewhat of a non-conformist when it comes to holiday tradition. Take Thanksgiving for example. I do not eat meat, watch football, or have family members that gather on that day. So I kind of see it as a double holiday, in that I can just do my own thing. But sometimes, without realizing it, I create new traditions of my own. My holiday meal consisted of tasty corn fritters and grilled cheese sandwiches. But not just any grilled cheese sandwich. As I am a kamikaze cook, I use whatever is on hand to make something tasty.
