» Pocket & Ribbon in the Planner?

Are you a fan of the Rhodia Planners? We recently received a comment from someone requesting that we add a pocket and a ribbon bookmark. Is this something you would like to see in future versions? Knowing that the addition of such features could affect the price, would the these features make you more or less apt to purchase one?

The ribbon is essential for me. A pocket, though nice, will not influence my purchasing decision. Truthfully, what keeps me from buying a Rhodia planner is the layout. I need a pocket-sized planner for work, and although I despise Moleskine, their layout is simply superior. I have to use a special pen to keep it from bleeding, and I hate myself for giving them my money, but while I use a Rhodia webbie for my notebook, the planner has too much space wasted (in my opinion) on the grid page. It would also help if Rhodia made a daily planner. Just my two cents.

Would the ribbon replace the current tear-away corners? I assume so, otherwise the would be redundant.

Adding a pocket would probably mean changing the cover to something thicker, and more like the Webbie. Maybe do that instead? I special edition Webbie Planner?

I like the planner as it stands. It is durable yet thin, and the tabs make it very easy to see where you are in the planner.

I wouldn’t mind a pocket if the price didn’t go up. For me a ribbon is useless since I use the corner tearing feature. I would be dissapointed if a frivolous change made my favorite planner pricier.

That’s a pretty Parker 51 you got there…

I can’t say I’m a planner guy anymore. Too much of our scheduling is done in Outlook (so coworkerrs can see when there are openings, send invitations, etc.). Sad, really, though I cannot deny the utility.

Pocket for sure but the ribbon I could do without

I’d definitely rather the ribbon than those silly tear-off tabs in the corner, but I like the slimness of the form factor, and I wouldn’t like/use the pocket.

I vote yes for the pocket and the ribbon. I also vote for an alternative page layout. Some of write large and need more space. :)

I use the Quo Vadis planners and the pocket is a huge benefit. Appointment cards, business cards, business receipts – all safely tuck into the pocket until I can get them home and scan or file them.

The ribbon is not as big a deal. I mosly create my own methods of keeping track what page I’m on.

How much are we talking for this ribbon? Anything over $1.00 seems outrageous.

I’m personally a fan of the tabs, and don’t really have a strong opinion on the ribbon or the pocket.

one suggestion I do have is for the large planner to adopt the layout of the small planner, that is, have Sat. and Sun. on the right page, under the grid. It seems to me that that would allow for more space on Mon.-Fri., which would be great.

I have to disagree with Francesco about tucking the weekend away. Some of us work weekends. Making more space for those of us who write large would be grand. Ever tried getting even an M nib between those tiny lines??? It took a special carry fine nibbed pencil to fit when I used one of these. Plus, we NEED the grid to fill in all the information that doesn’t fit on those teensy lines. Like addresses and phone #s for the appointment we’ve just squeezed on the itsy line.

Pocket yes, ribbon, not so much.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Such a diverse range of opinions! Personally, I like the tear off corners, and hate those silly irritating ribbons. A ribbon wouldn’t be too much of a drama though, because you could just chop it off if you don’t like it.

A pocket would be nice, and I find them very useful. :-)

Personally I would leave the current planner alone. The design and features are a good compromise as is.

I would like to see a new planner with ribbon and pocket based on the Webbie. Different product in the larger harder cover would produce a different set of ideal compromise points.

So change, no. New product, yes (if the expansion of the range could be justified).

I need at least one full page per day. I am much more comfortable with two pages per day. So, the only Rhodia planner in my future, obviously, would be something along the lines of molie’s one colored Volant per month but twice as thick.

Neither. Keep it minimal.
