» Connecting one thing to another
I’ve received a recent question pertaining to Tuesday’s blog post in which I wrote about my husband cooking me a dinner of loose meat sandwiches. The question surrounded the relevance of that post to Rhodia and its fine writing products, so I have decided to elaborate and see if I can explain how my brain made the connection.
I am a person who frequently writes about things I remember from my childhood. I even have one dedicated journal specifically called “My Book of Lists” which includes favorite meals my Mom used to cook, toys I enjoyed playing with, names of childhood friends…
Like many others, I occasionally wax nostalgic for what can sometimes be referred to as “simpler” times- when it was commonplace for people to write on paper with a pencil and smartphones didn’t yet exist along with all of today’s modern distractions. For me, when I touch upon something from my past, (in this case a food product,) it’s like a portal opens up and a flood of memories come pouring through, providing inspiration and insight to fill a dozen new journal pages with those memories. By posting moments like this to Rhodia Drive, I hope to encourage our readers to reflect and also write about things remembered.
Rhodia itself, a brand born in the early 1930′s, is loved not only for it’s quality, but also for the sense of nostalgia it evokes. People today can live almost completely paperless if they choose- and we are most grateful for those who continue to seek the tactile pleasure of putting pen to our paper.

I enjoyed the Sloppy Joe post. Reminded me of my childhood. Sloppy Joe at home was my favorite. Sloppy Joe at school was special. A slower and easier time far removed from the hurried angst of today.
Huh…my first thought with the post was “Loose meat?” Made me think of chickens and cows doing yoga…which made me giggle…as I read a post that made ME think back, and remember about my brother’s take on the origins of Sloppy Joe that he told while sitting at my grandmother’s table…and think now which prompted a couple pages in a Rhodia Webbie on him and how we’ve lost touch… Here, here, for the thought provoking left turn now and then in your posts. Always interesting and keeps me coming back to the blog.
I also enjoyed the post. I was thinking of trying your mothers recipe. So don’t let one person who dosen’t get you get to you.
Also sharing recipes that people write down onto paper and pass along to others is paper related topic.
