About 7 or 8 years ago, I was selling my handmade jewelry at an outdoor art festival and had been set up next to a woman selling soap. I remember how the gentle winds would pick up and carry the scent of her soaps past my booth. Peppermint, lemon verbena, lavender - she only used natural essential oils in a vegetable based soap that she hand milled. To me, they smelled so fresh and wonderful but I just couldn’t see spending $3 for a single bar of soap – that’s only for rich people, right?
But I could at least go over and take a closer whiff… (That’s what she’d say to people – “Feel free to take a whiff.”) And there it was: Peppermint/Tea Tree/Lemon Verbena. It was the most wonderful combination I’d ever known. I think I bought 4 bars for $10 and that was it – I was forever hooked on fancy soap. To this day, I go out of my way to buy either local handmade soaps or ones from the health food store by either Dr. Bonner’s or Pre de Provence. It might cost me a bit more than an 8-pack of Dove or Ivory, but it’s a small luxury that I don’t mind paying extra for because I like the way I feel when using it.
When people first discover Rhodia, they might not understand why our products cost a little more than our competitors- but once they try it, it’s hard to go back. Quality in any form typically costs a little more, but will often enhance the overall experience of using the product. For those who love the tactile experience of putting pen (or pencil) to paper, the consistency our products does not disappoint and we genuinely appreciate those of you who continue to support our brand.

Very well said! Most of us are pinching pennies these days but these little luxuries see us through those dark mornings.
