» To New Beginnings
It was probably about six or seven years ago that I first started hearing about how 12/21/12 might be the end of the world as we know it. I remember listening to the person talk about it and being torn between feelings of fear and of frustration at what sounded like craziness. So anyway, Friday’s the big date and whatever you may think about the 2012 Phenomenon, I’d like share a tiny bit of how I’m planning my last day prior to any new beginnings that may occur on 12/21/12.
For each of the last two years, I’ve created a manifestation list at the end of the previous year. This is a list of circumstances I would like to bring about, and the way I create the list is by writing each item in the present tense. For instance, if I wanted to move and buy a new house with a kitchen nook that overlooked a pond, I’d add a line that said, “In 2013, I am sitting in my kitchen nook watching the swallows snatch bugs off the surface of the pond.” The key is to act “as if” the circumstance has already happened.
“In 2013, I discuss the exhibition of my art with the curators of the Visionary Arts Museum in Baltimore.
“In 2013 I am reviewing the first draft of the first book I will have published”
The cool thing about this exercise is that when you add something to the list, you don’t have to know how it will happen. You simply have to imagine yourself on the other side. It does of course, somewhat matter that the items be based in reality. As in: If you can’t sing, it’s highly unlikely that you will become the next American Idol.
Whatever it is, big or small, if it’s important to me, I’m adding it to the page AND doing my best to complete my list by tonight because I wish to set my intentions for the new year/new age that just might be starting tomorrow. If not, I’ll simply have it ready 10 days prior to the start of 2013.
Have you ever created a list like this one? How did it work out? I find it somewhat amazing how some things happen almost exactly as I’ve written them. It doesn’t all happen, but enough of it does that I’m willing to continue the process. (And share it with others.) Do you think you might give it a try for yourself?
