» Tell Me a Few of Your Favorite Things
At the end of each year, I like to compile lists of my favorite things which I aim to publish on my personal blog. The one most people seem to like, is of my favorite art & writing supplies. (My lists from 2010, and 2009) While I am still working on my lists for 2012, I’d be happy to share with you a few of the Exaclair items sure to make the cut.
- Large Blank Black Rhodia Webbie: This is my favorite size notebook/journal and I love the off-white blank pages. Fountain pen friendly, what more could I ask for?
- Small Blank Red or Black Quo Vadis Habana: Sometimes I flip-flop between this and the large Webbie as being my favorite notebook/journal. I find the small Habana’s easier and more convenient to slip into a purse or bag.
- Rhodia Blank & dotPads No. 16: (A5/6×8″) I’ve been a fan of the dots since they first came out but I’ve also started using the blank pads which I’m seriously loving. There is something so freeing about a blank page – it seems to give you permission to “Please, feel free to do anything you like. Draw, doodle, write…”
- Clairefontaine Basics Wirebound Tan with Pockets 6×8″: I’ve been using these over the last few years to develop new ideas for my various workshops.
Will you share with me your own list of favorite things? Pens, pencils, paper, art supplies – I want to hear!

My Lamy Safari pens, with Noodlers Walnut ink, in my Rhodia day planner! Perfection.
I love the Pilot G2 pens – bought a box of the black fine (.07) pens and have a few clipped to my computer bag. GREAT pens!
My Quo Vadis Habana Journal in Anise Green, my Namiki Falcon with custom CI nib, my Daniel Smith watercolors, the Fountain Pen Network, art journaling, teaching mixed media art!
Here is part of my litany of ink love… Uni Jetstream .5…Staedtler Cool Roller…Uni Lakubo .5…Noodler’s blue and my Noodler’s Ahab… Each has a place in my heart. I usually carry an assortment with me in a pouch…makes me happy just to know they there, waiting to create.
My Midoria TN and my mini TWSBI. I use my TN as a journal, a calendar and an inspiration notebook. The mini TWSBI just writes so consistently beautifully that I can’t be without it.
This year? Favourite things include two new Safaris plus converters for them, some Pelican Edelstein ink (particularly like the Topaz and the Mandarin and the Caran D’Ache Chevron fountain pen I got for my birthday. On the paper front, tend to prefer Clairefontaine but am also currently using some yellow gridlined Rhodia A5 and A4 notepads and a couple of Moleskins. Happy.
